Everybody likes a good slice (or two) of pie —
but a pie you can enjoy on the go is even better.

In the Spring of 2009, Esther Wengered was presented with the opportunity to begin making fry-pies for the Ashery store in Heath, Ohio – a sister store to the well-known Ashery store in Mt. Hope, Ohio. This was a chance to put her life-long love of baking to use; however, she also knew that only the highest quality pastries would be accepted in the middle of “Amish Country.” After investing three years in the development of the crust, she finally found the perfect balance of texture and flavor. But everyone knows it’s what inside that matters most, so Esther makes all the fillings from scratch while using only whole fruit, and of course, no preservatives are added. Soon the pies were growing in popularity, and she began distributing fresh-made pies to other stores. Before long her basement was no longer big enough to meet the demands of hungry consumers. So in 2014, they added a small bakery beside their house, this bakery allows Esther to meet the pie cravings of her customers while at the same time allowing her to be at home to spend time with her family and growing grandchildren. Everybody who knows Esther loves her for more than her pies, she’s a gracious host and enjoys getting to know new people.
